Botanical-Zoological Reserve of the Kubiliūnai wood
Botanical-Zoological Reserve of the Kubiliūnai wood
This reserve has an area of 74 hectares. It was established in order to preserve the species of plants and fungi listed in the Lithuanian Red Book. The Kubiliūnai wood is unique because of a very great number of mushrooms species. Rare plants grow there in abundance: ordinary Gladioli, platanthera chlorantha and Baltic orchid. There are many rare species of birds as well- lesser-spotted eagle, honey buzzard, black grouse, crane and spotted woodpecker. A new kind of insect in Lithuania (Dirhagus Emyi) was found in this wood.
