Šalnaičiai ancient settlement

This ancient settlement is in the Saločiai eldership, Pasvalys district. It is located 1.0 km to the northeast from the confluence of the stream Užkalnys and the River Mūša, 230 meters to the west from the Šalnaičiai burial ground. The settlement is on the right bank of the River Mūša, on the high place which goes down to the west direction and rises in the north. The area’s surface is about 300 meters long in the east-west direction and up to 210 m wide. During archaeological research there was defined a territory, captured up to 1 m thick cultural layer of the site with charred logs, charred stones and some fragments of moulded pottery with smooth or rough surface.
