Monument to killed partisans in the village of Daujėnai
This memorial stone was unveiled in Daujėnai village center on the 14th June 2008. It is dedicated to those who died for the freedom of Lithuania in this parish. Mr. Antanas Tamašauskas engraved the monument letters on a memorial plaque. The Cross and the sun were forged by Žadeikiai blacksmiths. Panevėžys Bishop Jonas Kauneckas consecrated the monument. In Daujėnai village center, there were some dramatic events – in 1941, during June uprising, the rebels raised the national tricolor flag and they were brutally murdered there. After the war, killed partisans’ desecrated corpses were laid in the village center.
