Roofed poles in the Park of Sinkholes
These oak sculptures depicting Saints were built on a hill. The unveiling ceremony was held on the 17th September 2011, in Pasvalys Sinkhole Park.
They are like guarding the park and its visitors from the various hardships. The roofed poles are adorned by Sun Crosses made by blacksmiths from Žadeikiai. Mr. Adolfas Teresius from Garliava carved a sculpture of St. Barbara who protects from lightning and fire. Mr. Kestutis Krasauskas designed a pole depicting St. Christopher wading through water with the Child. This Saint protects people and their houses from lightning and earthquakes. Mr. Stasys Motiejūnas carved St. Anne who is a Saint of women and widows and she blesses a new crop. This sculpture shows how she teaches her daughter St. Virgin Mary. Mr. Petras Pranskūnas depicted St. Peter and Mr. Vytautas Jackūnas created St. Cecilia who is the patroness of musicians and music. Mr. Arūnas Grušas, who is a leader of a sculptor camp "Šilo Genys", created a roofed pole to St. Anthony. The Pasvalys church vicar Modestas Juodvalkis consecrated the sculptures.
